Andy Bickers Club Captain Answers some questions under the spotlight, (well in the social club over a beer really)
Q Where was your first race?
A Bewl Bridge 1981 I coxed P.Davies Clive Bingham, Bob Logan & Alan Browning to a 2nd at the tender age of 11.
Q Where was your first win as a rower?
A Novice 4's at Brighton 1986.
Q What has been your best row?
A Is that Row with an o or row with an ou ive had lots of those!! oh yes The Ada Head with Dazza Mark and Matt in 2004. we beat the course record it felt like we were flying ive never felt ive been as fast in a 4 since.
Q What advice would you give to a young rower?
A Leave the girls alone (yes wait til your Steve Bicks age for that (ed). Learn to row bow and stroke.
Q Whats your funniest memory as a rower?
A Rowing at Brighton and taking a few glances at the nudist beach!!!
Q What's your favourite boat type?
A a coastal 4.
Q Where is your favourite Regatta and why?
A Not sure really but I suppose it has to be Deal as long as you get an inside draw.
Q Whats your favourite rowing posession?
A I have 2 my original rowing vest and a t shirt from my championship winning crew which still fits. (smug git ed).
